NEIGHBORHOODS: Yerba Buena

The Yerba Buena neighborhood is the new cultural hub of San Francisco. Centered on Moscone Center and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, this neighborhood has been transformed as hotels, restaurants, shops, museums and condominiums have made this district home.

The Transbay Terminal, which is slated for dramatic redevelopment that will turn it into a vibrant mixed-use transit hub, is also located here.

Many of San Francisco’s most desirable hotels – including the St. Regis, W Hotel, Four Seasons and the InterContinental – are within walking distance. Yerba Buena is also home to numerous galleries and museums, including SFMOMA, and entertainment activities at Metreon and Zeum. The beautifully maintained Yerba Buena Gardens, with its well-maintained outdoor spaces, is an excellent place to enjoy a moment of tranquility in the heart of the City.

The recently expanded Westfield San Francisco Centre boasts some of the finest shopping in San Francisco, as well as a variety of restaurants and movie theaters, and the famed shopping district around Union Square is only a few blocks away. Residents of this neighborhood are drawn not only to the cultural activities, but also to the proximity of downtown and the fine restaurants in the area.
