SOMA, or South of Market, is San Francisco’s version of New York’s SOHO loft district. While still a neighborhood in transition, it is also home to spacious warehouse lofts and the headquarters of many technology companies. But it also still functions much the way it has in the past, and is the site of many industrial and warehouse facilities.
Not only is SOMA in close proximity to San Francisco’s employment centers and top cultural destinations, but it also offers housing prices that are among the most affordable in the City.
SOMA attracts a diverse group of residents attracted to its slight “gritty” flavor and its lingering industrial edge, and many of the restaurants and services in SOMA cater to these pioneering types.
The tallest residential condominium towers are located in the South Beach and SOMA neighborhoods.
